The purpose of this thesis project was to write a grant to identify funding sources for a substance abuse prevention program for youth who are in the foster care system in Los Angeles County. The goal of the proposed program is to increase youth's knowledge of drug use and consequences as well as assist youth in making better decisions, resisting social influences, communicating more effectively, and building their self-esteem and personal responsibility. The Stuart Foundation was selected as the most suitable funding source for this grant proposal. The actual funding and submission of this grant were not requirements for the successful completion of this project.
