Abstract (Summary)

This project explored the writer's experience as a Latina immigrant in the form of a personal narrative. The topics explored are the writer's experience crossing the Mexican border and immigrating illegally, living in a low-income household with her mother, and her experience in American schools. A review of the literature regarding topics and issues faced by Latino immigrants and their families is included. A brief history of Nicaragua is also included along with literature on the importance of narratives. The writer concludes by reflecting on her experience writing the narrative.
