In A Meticulous Reordering of Past Failures and Other Works, I use rule-based processes to shape the intuitive cutting apart and reordering of images of urban spaces. The source material is drawn from an expanding personal archive of photographs and drawings of buildings, neighborhoods, and streets near where I have lived and worked; the rule-based processes exaggerate and/or subvert the organizational strategies apparent in the original imagery. The resulting large scale works on paper contain varying zones of density and various combinations of scale, imagery, and materials. My goal with these works is to create inventive and complex pictures of space that draw viewers in to contemplate ways in which their world is structured.
