by Ofoegbu, Shalonda N., M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2011, 58; 1499285
Abstract (Summary)

This study explored the needs of kinship families in San Gabriel Valley and South Bay Service Planning Areas receiving services from Encore Parenting Program during the period of January 2011. The study sampled 43 kinship caregivers receiving services from Encore Parenting Program, a federally funded program that connects kinship families to resources such as child care, counseling services, caregiver support groups, housing services and financial assistance.

Findings suggested that kinship families have a diversity of unmet service needs regardless of type of kinship arrangement, caregiver age, location and number of children in the home.
