The purpose of this project was to develop and write a grant proposal to fund a psycho educational program for children affected by fetal alcohol syndrome and an educational program for parents and caregivers. The proposed program is designed for children who have entered the foster care system through the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services through the Belvedere and Corporate offices in East Los Angeles. The goal of the psychoeducational program is to decrease children's cognitive, social, and behavioral difficulties and to increase parents' and caregivers' knowledge regarding fetal alcohol syndrome disorders, available resources, and ways to manage children's behaviors. A search for potential funding sources through the Internet and a grant database resulted in the selection of the Weingart Foundation as the best potential funding source for this project.
