Abstract (Summary)

In fulfillment of the requirements for a Master of Fine Arts degree, three dances were choreographed and performed at the Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theater located at the California State University, Long Beach campus. The dates of the premieres were October 15, 2009, March 11, 2010, and October 14, 2010. The dances were 20 minutes, 15 minutes, and 7 minutes in length, respectively.

Know One is a series of 7 solos examining how specific memories influence an individual's sense of self. Does This Make Any Sense? emphasized the influence of the five senses on perceiving and recalling movement and also attempted to provide the viewer with a multisensory experience. Rain Still Drops, an abstracted character study, conveyed mental disintegration as a result of Alzheimer's disease or dementia.
