The purpose of this project was to identify potential funding sources, develop an appropriate program, and write a grant proposal to provide a supportive atmosphere by means of a support group for foster parents who are interested in adopting children in foster care in Los Angeles County. A large amount of research was done on existing literature in order to find recent and relevant information on how support groups have been beneficial to families and what the positive, as well as the negative, aspects of support groups have been. Potential funding sources were sought using the Internet, a grant data base, and FC search. The Sony USA Foundation was selected as the primary funding source based on their broad qualification for grant seekers. Using the research on existing literature and on prospective agencies, a grant was written to provide a support group for foster parents interested in adopting children in foster care residing in Los Angeles County.
