by Duldulao, Danielle S., M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2011, 71; 1499152
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this project was to write a grant requesting funds for new and current high school teacher professional development training in the Baldwin Park Unified School District in the city of Baldwin Park, California. This ecological systems training will provide new and current teachers with an understanding of the different systems and the environmental barriers present in high school students' life that can impede on their academic success. In addition, this training will serve to educate teachers about the diverse population of the city of Baldwin Park and will also provide information on how to improve classroom management and offer additional strategies for teaching. This proposed professional development program is aimed at improving the cultural competence of teachers. Actual submission and/or funding of the grant were not required for successful completion of this project.
