Increased substance abuse treatment for adolescents
by Bigler, William H., M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2010, 145; 1492997
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this grant proposal was to develop and fund a project to provide substance abuse treatment for adolescents in Ventura County, California, particularly among the traditionally underserved population. Clinicas del Camino Real, in Ventura County, California, was the agency selected as the focus of this project.

After conducting a review of the literature examining all aspects of this complex issue, risk and protective factors, and effective interventions for adolescents with substance use disorders, the grant writer designed a comprehensive family centered substance abuse program, Clinicas Recovery. After searching public and private potential funding sources, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration was found to have an applicable Request for Application for funding available, identified as closely aligned with the primary goals congruent with the mission of Clinicas del Camino Real.

Actual submission and/or funding of the grant were not required for the successful completion of this project.
