Abstract (Summary)

The United States of America is home to a diverse group of people who have brought with them many different cultures, traditions, beliefs, and music. As our nation continues to grow as a mecca for cultural diversity, American culture slowly changes as well. Taking this growing diversity into account, it is necessary to reconsider the nature of American sound and musical identity. Sinfonia de las Americas, is designed to incorporate some of the many musical influences available to American composers, in the hope of both continuing and encouraging an eclectic American sound representative of the diverse musical elements found in the United States.
