Dissertation/Thesis Abstract

The Oval Rip
by Fraser, Chance, M.F.A., California State University, Long Beach, 2010, 98; 1486484
Abstract (Summary)

This is a collection of stand-alone short stories. Two of the stories, "A Canyon Party" and "Tiny Blue Square," are examples of my development in forming my creative process; both stories are either modeled after a story or author I admire. "The Eco-Meal Plan for Humanity," "The Storefront," and "The Oval Rip," reflect my writing free of conscious emulation, and, although none of these stories are interrelated, a similar style exists, which mixes dark imagery with a wry tone.
