Abstract (Summary)

This paper outlines qualities and opportunities for at-risk adolescent girls. Adolescent development, as affected by mentoring, risk factors of pregnancy, bullying and violence, the role of mentoring, mentoring fundamentals and factors in mentoring are discussed.

Methodologies of funding source identification, grant criteria selection, needs assessment and data collection are defined along with funding sources and grant submission process.

Grant proposal design includes program description and evaluation, project overviews and goals, target geography and beneficiaries, program budget and narrative.

Lessons learned for this grant writer explore steps in writing a grant proposal, positive and difficult challenges and the implications for social work.
