Abstract (Summary)

The purpose for this project was to create an outreach program for Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) caregivers on early childhood education for the children in the child welfare system (DCFS), identify potential funding sources, and complete a grant proposal to implement this program at Weed and Seed located in city of Long Beach. The outreach program will focus on educating DCFS caregivers on early childhood education (ECE), and enrolling children ages 0-5 in ECE programs in the city of Long Beach for a year. Data will be collected of how many caregivers are contacted and educated and how many children are enrolled in ECE within a year. The actual submission and/or funding of this grant was not a requirement for the successful completion of the project.
