Dissertation/Thesis Abstract

The planning process for the implementation of a school-based Wellness Center: A grant-writing project
by Engh, Patricia Jo, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2010, 55; 1486409
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this project was to locate a potential funding source through a grant to fund a planning community collaborative process that would plan the implementation of a Wellness Center on a Charter High school campus in the Roseland District of Santa Rosa California. This grant would fund the planning process of the implementation and not the actual implementation of the Wellness Center. An extensive literature review was completed to investigate the risk factors facing adolescents, risk factors for Latino adolescents, protective factors for adolescents, successful interventions for adolescents on school campuses and an explanation of what school Wellness Centers are. An Internet search was then conducted to locate a fonder to fund the planning process. The proposed planning process would involve the key agencies that would eventually be providing services to the youth and families through the school Wellness Center. The planning process would take place in Santa Rosa, California.
