This hundred-page excerpt from THE CELEBRITY represents a continuation of an earlier, similar-length excerpt which was submitted for my MA thesis in 2006. The following pages comprise what will likely be the second part of a four-part book which looks at the life of 1962-era television celebrity, Wanda Fleming. These chapters portray the initiation of Miss Fleming's descent into a spiral of anxiety and desperate escape as already-fragile emotional underpinnings break away, one by one, in a series of humiliating and painful life disruptions.
