The purpose of this project was to design a program, locate a funding source and to write a grant for a short term psycho-educational support group for newly diagnosed adults with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). As part of the project, the grant writer explored potential funding sources in order to find a funding source that best aligned with the goals and objectives of this project. An extensive literature review was performed to investigate the best way to design a program that can provide psycho-education, supportive counseling, and improve the overall well-being for this target population. Harbor UCLA Medical Center, was selected as the host agency based on its geographic location, demographics, and desirability as a community partnership. The California Wellness Foundation was the most suitable funding source for this grant proposal. The actual funding and/or submission of this grant were not requirements for the successful completion of this academic project.
