Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this thesis was to conduct research and identify a potential funding source that would fund a proposed program serving homeless youth in the city of Los Angeles. Through an extensive review of the literature, risk factors contributing to homelessness and risk factors associated with being homeless were identified and discussed, along with current programs in place. A needs assessment was conducted on homeless youth in the city of Los Angeles in order to get a better understanding of the services needed for this population. By navigating foundation databases and foundation websites potential funding sources were considered with one being identified as the potential funding source. Lastly, a grant application was completed in an attempt to obtain funding for the proposed program.
