by Zecharias, Lydia, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2009, 63; 1472386
Abstract (Summary)

Transitional age youth are faced with countless obstacles and poor outcomes. They do not have the continuing source of emotional and social support needed for self-sufficiency, due to the lack of continuity. The purpose of this project was to develop a mentoring program for transitional age youth in foster care (ages 18-25), identify potential funding sources, and to complete a grant application to fund this program for youth served by a non-profit agency called Pathways to Your Future in Los Angeles, California. The grant writer selected the Dwight Stuart Youth Foundation for funding the proposed program. The program is designed to provide enduring emotional support and guidance towards youth successfully transitioning into adulthood. Actual submission and/or funding of this grant was not a requirement for the successful completion of the project.
