Abstract (Summary)

The reversible transverse susceptibility X t of particulate recording media is studied experimentally by using an inductive coil system. The findings are qualitatively compared with the Stoner and Wohlfarth model of magnetic particles with uniaxial anisotropy. Some of the recording tapes were in agreement with the model but some do not show the susceptibility peaks predicted by the theory. In both cases, an attempt is made to explain the experimental results.
