The purpose of this project was to develop a school mental health program, identify potential funding sources, and write a grant to fund this program. The school mental health program will employ staff who will use a developmental approach to prevent and treat mental health issues at The New City Public Schools. The program will also offer in-service trainings for teachers and school staff as well as parent and community involvement. The program staff will provide individual and group counseling services to students upon referral from teachers and/or parents. The program staff will conduct classroom based and school wide preventative trainings to students on various topics relevant to student need. Actual submission and/or funding of the grant was not required for the successful completion of this project.
