Abstract (Summary)

This MFA thesis in poetry is composed of two chapters followed by an Appendix of poetry. The author explores the nature of his poetry as an explanation of the rational mind's collision with the irrational world. The second section demonstrates the methodology behind this theory of poetry and explores the theoretical material which aided in its formation. The appendix consists of poetry by the author written between 2007–2009 as the author developed his personal esthetic.
