Giants Like Us is a collection of short stories written over the course of two years in the MFA Creative Writing Program. These stories are about new experiences that come with childhood and young adulthood. Writing the stories in this thesis has taught me ways to explore characters that begin as children and grow into adults. Through them I intend to communicate the feelings of loss that comes with the death of loved ones, as well as the loss of communication with loved ones still living. Through the process of writing and revising Giants Like Us, I have gained the ability to perceive the distance I have come in my writing—and, the distance that still remains.
