by Aispuro, Iliana M., M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2009, 50; 1481579
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this project was to design a program, identify potential funding sources, and write a grant to fund a program that would provide support services for pregnant and parenting adolescents to assist in the attainment of community resources, mental health counseling, parenting knowledge and skills, and academic support. An extensive literature review increased knowledge about the complexity of adolescent pregnancy and parenting, and provided information about evidence-based programs that the grant writer then used to design a program that would provide this population with opportunities to improve their standard of living by increasing their life options. A search for potential funding sources via the Internet resulted in the selection of the California Wellness Foundation as the best funding source for this project. A grant was then written to provide funding for a support services program for students attending Tracy Teen Parent Program in the City of Cerritos, California.
