The purpose of this project was to examine my experiences as an adolescent facing an unplanned pregnancy, and the ensuing life as a single mother. This narrative describes how this swift transition was particularly difficult because I was socially immature and was advanced to the role of an adult with very little preparation. This narrative also highlights the risk factors facing adolescent mothers and their children as well as the protective factors that enabled this writer to overcome the obstacles or negative influences encountered.
