The purpose of this grant proposal was to develop a program, identify potential funding sources, and write a grant to fund a domestic violence shelter that offered culture specific services to female Asian American survivors of domestic violence who are living within the Los Angeles County. An extensive literature review was conducted to explore how culture influences perceptions of domestic violence, and how those perceptions can hinder access to domestic violence intervention services. The goal of the project is to raise consciousness to the issue of domestic violence within the Asian American community, and to also advocate for culturally competent service delivery for female Asian American survivors of domestic violence.
