Dissertation/Thesis Abstract

The adult advocacy response and evaluation services for nursing homes (ARES)
by Wilson, Elizabeth, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2009, 63; 1466320
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this project was to fund an adult advocacy response and evaluation service to increase the quality of care of all residents in nursing homes. The proposed project involves educating the residents and caregivers about their rights, supporting the residents and their caretakers in nursing homes, providing a support group to residents and decreasing citations for all nursing homes in the Los Angeles County.

With a literature review examining increased physical abuse in all nursing homes and increasing citations for all nursing homes in the Los Angles County, the grant writer identified a specific need for an advocacy program for all nursing home residents.

After searching public and private potential funding sources through the Grantsmanship Center, The Archstone Foundation was chosen as the most likely to fund this project.

Actual submission and or funding of the grant were not required for the successful completion of this project.
