Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this study was to examine how an organization's structure and dynamics are perceived to effect volunteer motivation, job satisfaction and retention. This study specifically examined volunteerism at El Centro Cultural de Mexico, a non profit located in Santa Ana, California. The study also examined how volunteerism has had an impact on the way El Centro Cultural de Mexico functions.

The results of this study revealed that an organization's structure and dynamics can impact volunteer motivation, job satisfaction and retention as perceived by one group of volunteers. The study also revealed that volunteerism has influenced the way in which El Centro Cultural de Mexico functions, and that it may impact similar organizations.
