The development of copper(II) promoted and catalyzed difunctionalization reactions is discussed. These methods synthesize a variety of complex nitrogen heterocycles in enantioenriched form. Furthermore, attempts to apply this chemistry toward the total synthesis of Spirotryprostatin A is described.
