My project exhibition SLIPPAGE is comprised of 14 mixed media artworks on wood panels ranging in size from 12 inches square to 48 inches by 70 inches, including three small collages on panel.
These paintings embody my own life experience and various familial and social interactions while leaving the imagery open and ambiguous in an attempt to allow the viewer to participate in, and possibly add their own narratives and experiences to the work. My work explores my memories and experiences in moments, where disjunction, miscommunication, and slippage are the common currency.
The imagery generally consists of flattened, simplified acrylic "drawings" in a complex and layered field of color, shape, and text, with great attention paid to the composition and integration of the pictorial elements presented.
