Naming The Telephone Wires is a collection of poems written during my two years in the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program at California State University, Long Beach. The poems in this collection are in conversation with pieces of art from different media. The word “conversation,” is meant to represent that each poem attempts to interact with the work of art it draws from, in the vein of ekphrastic poetry. The primary media of art focused on in this thesis are film and rap music.
