Dissertation/Thesis Abstract

The Soul’s Call: Individuation, the Nodes of the Moon, and the Coniunctio
by Gutierrez, Nicole M., M.A., Pacifica Graduate Institute, 2020, 72; 27743791
Abstract (Summary)

Astrology is an ancient source of knowledge, healing, and spirituality that has remained on the periphery of healing practices. Heuristic and alchemical hermeneutic methodologies are applied in this research, which explores the value of archetypal astrology within psychotherapeutic work. Working collaboratively with clients regarding the Nodes of the Moon in the natal chart supports clients in the individuation process. Through a process of Self re-collection and the alchemical process of the coniunctio, clients integrate the archetypal energy of the Sun and Moon (spirit/matter, mind/body, and conscious/unconscious) as it relates to the soul. Exploring the Nodes of the Moon in the natal chart archetypally represents the soul’s journey toward individuation by way of the transcendent function and one’s psychospiritual connection of mind, body, and soul. Digging deeper into one’s personal myth and call of the soul, brings consciousness to the archetypal energies associated with the Nodes and their planetary rulers.
