Boy's Perceptions of the Changing Voice

Abstract (Summary)

This small study focused on the following research questions. How do boys experience vocal change? How do boys perceive their voice before, during, and after the change? What can educators do to support boys with their changing voice? Participants shared their thoughts about their voices, and related stories about the voice change that they had undergone. Results include the following themes; unique individual experiences with the changing voice, methods for guiding the changing voice, and students’ knowledge of the changing voice. The study provided thought provoking material that can encourage further investigation of the changing voice.
