by Henderson, Angela Marie, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2019, 52; 13858465
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this project was to write a grant proposal to develop and secure funding for a Mindfulness Based Intervention (MBI) program for individuals in early stages of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

After a thorough review of the literature regarding the impact of Mindfulness Based Interventions (MBI) on individuals with chronic or terminal health conditions, the grant writer designed a MBI program for persons with dementia. The use of (MBI) has been gaining increased support because it is an affordable non pharmacological treatment option, but shows promise in increasing the well being of older adults diagnosed with AD.

After researching potential funders, the Archstone Foundation was selected as the best match for funding the project. The host agency selected was Alzheimer’s Family Center in Huntington Beach, California. Actual submission of the grant is not required for the purpose of this project.
