These Slipping, Salted Hands is a collection of poems and critical investigations written during my time in the Master of Fine Arts program at California State University, Long Beach. The front matter addresses how individual and generational suffering can both inhibit and inspire poetry based on such events. The ultimate purpose of this assemblage of work is in the conception and construction of the poems in the appendix. The creative work included largely examines the intersections of family, addiction, and illness in order to illustrate the engrossing nature of mental, emotional, and bodily trauma through the tenuous relationship between a mother and daughter.
