Workplace incivility is a rampant phenomenon in American organizations that undercuts organizational effectivity, sustainability, competitive advantage, and the ability to withstand extreme industrial trends. The specific problem identified for the current study was that interventions aimed at addressing the problem are ineffective and there is a lack of solutions for workplace incivility. The focus of the current qualitative modified Delphi study was solutions for preventative policies for the organizational governance of workplace incivility. The research question was what is the level of consensus among a panel of 40 national experts in the fields of organizational behavior management, management, and human resources as to future solutions for preventive policies for the organizational governance of workplace incivility? Three iterative rounds of data collection were conducted. The findings revealed consensus on 10 desirable, feasible, important, and valuable items across four categories of solutions for the organizational governance of workplace incivility: (a) preventative policies specifically aimed at workplace incivility, (b) training existing employees about workplace incivility, (c) designing pre-employment screening policies, and (d) using a list of manifestations of workplace incivility in policy development. Leaders may use the findings as a foundation for developing and implementing preventative policy solutions to address workplace incivility.
