This study was designed to determine if a relationship existed among permissive parenting, narcissism, entitlement, and work ethic in a sample of college-age Millennials. Three research questions were asked: (a) What is the relationship between permissive parenting, as measured by the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ), and narcissistic behaviors and entitled characteristics, as measured by the Narcissistic Personality Inventory-13, among college-age Millennials? (b) What is the relationship between a decreased work ethic, according to the Multidimensional Work Ethic Profile (MWEP), and a static expectation of reward as the result of increased entitlement expectations among Millennials, as measured by the Psychological Entitlement Scale? (c) What is the relationship between failures in parental empathic attunement, according to the PAQ, and a decrease in work ethic, according to the MWEP, among college-age Millennials? This study followed a quantitative, correlational design. Multiple independent variables were analyzed to see if a relationship existed among the dependent and independent variables. Pearson correlation analyses were used to ascertain covariation among the variables. Participants were college students ages 18 to 25 years who were enrolled in a liberal arts university at the time of the study. After conducting the Pearson correlation analyses, results showed a positive relationship among permissive parenting, narcissism, entitlement, and work ethic among college-age Millennials.
