Forecasts, Strategies, and Systems for Corporate Content Targeting and Delivery

Abstract (Summary)

Many corporations today are larger and more globally dispersed than ever. Even with the technologies available today, communicating the right information to the right people in these companies can be an enormous task. Traditional methods, such as Email, FTP servers, Websites, Listservs, and file sharing can address much of this issue, but the administration is often decentralized, and in some cases, the employee must proactively seek out the information. In addition, many of these methods don't allow centralized targeting of messages to large corporate segments or groups, either by executives or employees (self-subscription).

This paper examines content delivery systems, related emerging technologies, and other impacting technologies. It looks briefly at some of the vendors and the tools they are offering, and presents some possible scenarios and an example of a road map to be used for strategic planning in choosing and deploying these technologies. Specifically, we look at: - Push Technology - Targeting system components - Personalization systems and Portals

We also examine three technologies that could possibly represent new frontiers for corporate content delivery systems: - XML Based standards - Wireless Networking - Multicasting

As email has dominated corporations as a content delivery and notification mechanism, we also look at the future role of this technology.
