by Acosta, Jessica Paige, M.F.A., California State University, Long Beach, 2018, 121; 10784957
Abstract (Summary)

Nothing Is Okay, but Everything Is Fine is a collection of short stories revolving around a young woman, Tatum, negotiating relationships as she goes through life. A self-acknowledged drama-queen, in complete denial about her own fears of the cyclical intertwining of attachment and loss, Tatum habitually uses humor and hyperbole to cope with the plethora of strange situations in which she finds herself. Tatum’s distinct comedic voice carries her through a variety of scenarios, from her unexpected meeting with her estranged mother, to joining a pregnant fitness camp, to the passing of her grandmother, as she struggles to figure out how she connects to the world around her.
