Dissertation/Thesis Abstract

Mysteries Venn Diagrammed
by Rogers, Michael, M.F.A., California State University, Long Beach, 2018, 181; 10750586
Abstract (Summary)

Mysteries Venn Diagrammed is a collection of poems and critical cogitation written during my engagement with the Master of Fine Arts for Creative Writing Program at California State University, Long Beach. What precedes the designated poetry is a dialogical discourse of thoughts that I find necessary and/or interesting in my chosen art. The disparate utterances that make up this methodology are valued according to how thoroughly they have come to inform my poetic output. The emphasis here is on funneling streams of selected consciousness into a medium of sharable breaths. These organized breaths, or poems, are ordered into three sections that denote the broad categories of Science, Mythos, and Art, yet the overlap of nearly every poem between these stated nexuses reveals what both they and I feel about the fallacies inherent to such sequestering.
