Abstract (Summary)

Etude Fantasy (1976) is a solo piano work by the composer, John Corigliano, and features a host of compositional techniques in regards to color. This analysis creates a method for identifying timbral elements and observing how such elements relate to each other in order to gain understanding of how the piece functions.
