by Valenzuela, Marisa A, M.S., California State University, Long Beach, 2017, 43; 10263845
Abstract (Summary)

With more and more research of animal-assisted therapy and its effectiveness, there has been a rise in the demand for these programs in hospitals throughout the nation. While most animal therapy dogs are Golden Retrievers and Labradors, Pitties for the Kiddies is an Orange County based program that will partner with pediatric health care organizations and provide animal-assisted therapy with pitbull or pitbull type breeds. Not only will Pitties for the Kiddies provide animal-assisted therapy for pediatric patients, but will also provide education to the children and their families about pitbulls and how to properly handle and care for a dog.
