Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of writing Church Management by Delegation: Measurements from Ridgeway Alliance Church and Abundant Life Baptist Church in New York, is to seek verification from a questionnaire study, from the opinions of the leaders of the two churches, on the practice of management by delegation in their churches. The comparison is based on their opinions of power distance and of their delegation readiness. The choice of a mono-national cultural church and a multi-national cultural one is intentional, given that a nation may have many cultures, but assessing each of them is not feasible in this research. The acknowledgement or otherwise of any differences in church management by delegation will contribute to how other church’s leaders may be advised.

Chapter 1 develops the purpose, goals, context, and rationale in the project. This chapter introduces the research questions and hypotheses. It also describes the limitations of the study and assumptions. The theoretical and theological foundations for researching are developed in this chapter.

Chapter 2 provides managerial and theological literature for researching into Church Management by Delegation which is the mainstay of this project. This chapter aims at unearthing what literature support there may be for a church’s management by delegation as a theological implied mode of any church’s management.

Chapter 3 sets forth the procedures and research methodology utilized in approaching the data collection and the research instrument, including data analyses, statistical tests and inferences.

Chapter 4 presents an analysis of the method used to examine the supporting data and results thereof for this project.

Chapter 5 makes assessments of the data and provides interpretation of the results. It also points to strategic areas for research design, future research, and recommendation for ministry, with summary and conclusions as well as implications of the project.
