Sustainable Strategies in the Rubber Thread Industry

Abstract (Summary)

The current research’s objective has been to analyse the existing working involving operations, practices and work-flow etc. of a family-run organization in Malaysia and further prepare a report on sustainable strategies for implementation for the overall growth of the company producing rubber thread in the South East Asian region of the world, keeping in view that the production of rubber thread being a complex process, needs constant improvements and enhancements. The identity of the company is kept undisclosed for privacy reasons. The data collected has been slightly rounded, in agreement with the company itself to not disclose private information. The thesis study and analysis start and undergo through activities mentioned below for achieving the research objectives:

The methodology used for preparing the report covers the Literature Review about sustainability involving study about various models like SWOT, 7S from McKinsey and Balanced Scorecard and their applications in the analysis section; Secondary Research comprising of Rubber Industry analysis in general, country analysis and the company analysis. The methodology further covers Primary Research studying about the company itself collecting data by interviewing different floors in-charge and other key persons working in the company on various aspects that may be helpful in analysing things from different angles; Analysis providing the information on the working of the existing system in the company and the rubber industry in general, aligning with the frameworks studied performing gap analysis and in the last Conclusion and suggestions providing the Project plan with a concrete line of action for the company to use and implement.

While making the research, the data was collected by conducting thorough studies of certain major departments of the company using questionnaires, conducting personal interviews etc., in order to understand about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. After applying different strategy frameworks in the analysis part of this work, the final findings and suggestions are given in the conclusion part, department-wise, in this report.
