The purpose of this grant proposal was to develop and seek funding for a program for resource parents of foster children from the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). A review of the literature provided information about the types of complex trauma foster children experience and how trauma affects their development, health, behavior, attachment, and places them at a higher risk for placement disruption and re-entry into foster care. The trauma-informed support group for resource parents was proposed to provide caregivers with knowledge, information, and resources to improve communication and understanding of the foster children in their care to increase stability and decrease placement disruption and re-entry into foster care. The proposed program will be implemented at the Latino Family Institute and funded by the Mazda Foundation in California. The actual submission and/or funding of this grant were not a requirement for the successful completion of this project.
