The purpose of this project was to locate a potential funding source and write a grant to obtain funding in order to provide support groups to children and youth who have a parent or parents diagnosed with depression. An extensive literature review revealed the need to increase social support, enhance coping skills, and decrease the effects of stigma for children of depressed parents. Support groups will take place at the host agency, Intercommunity Counseling Center in Los Angeles, California. The program will provide support groups to children and youth of depressed parents who may not receive services otherwise. The actual submission and/or funding of this grant was not a requirement for the successful completion of the project.
