The purpose of this project was to locate a potential funding source and write a grant to design a supplemental program for children and youth who have witnessed family violence. A literature review was conducted to gain knowledge on the prevalence of family violence and the severity of the effects on children. An estimated 4 million of children between the ages of 3-17 witness family violence each year. Children who are exposed to family violence have suffered with emotional, cognitive and long-term effects. Unintended victims of family violence are in need of numerous services in order to suppress the effect of traumatic incidents. The Office on Violence Against Women has been identified as a potential funding source with Santa Anita Family Services being identified as a potential agency for the project implementation. The actual submission and/or funding of this grant were not a requirement for the successful completion of this project.
