by Madrigal, Vanessa, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2014, 64; 1527985
Abstract (Summary)

The purpose of this thesis was to develop an educational workshop for the parents of Alhambra Unified School District students, identify a funding source, and complete a grant proposal to fund this program for Gateway to Success in Alhambra, California. The program was designed to educate parents about the negative and positive effects social media can have on children and adolescents. The educational workshops will be held once a month for a complete school year. The workshops are designed to increase the degree of social media knowledge and awareness amongst parents and guardians, provide information about the negative and positive effects of social media on children and adolescents, and increase appropriate usage of social media among children and adolescents attending Alhambra Unified School District. The grant proposal was written for The Myra Reinhard Family Foundation; however, submission was not a requirement for the successful completion of this project.
