The purpose of this project was to locate a potential funding source and write a grant to provide psycho-educational and support groups for parents who have a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). An extensive literature review was performed and the research demonstrated a need for parents to receive direct support. Alma Family Services located in Pico Rivera is dedicated to providing direct services to persons with disabilities including ASD, and the Autism Parent Project would be an affirmative addition to the agency. The project has clear and precise goals aimed at empowering families and helping them cope with the life adjustment of the diagnosis. If funded, the Autism Parent Project would be located in the city of Pico Rivera and would benefit many families referred to Alma Family Services. Submission and funding of this project is not a requirement for the completion of this project.
