by Carney, Cheryl, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2014, 64; 1527895
Abstract (Summary)

The goal of this thesis was to write a grant for the design and implementation of an art therapy program for children currently served by a foster care agency in Los Angeles County. The objectives of this therapeutic program are to address the emotional and developmental needs of foster children in order for youth to non-verbally express their traumas, feelings, emotions, fears and concerns; address their experiences in foster care; identify and address their feelings regarding the loss of their parents, family and friends; increase the youths feelings of self-worth and self-esteem; identify and strengthen self-resilience; and increase the youths social and emotional skills. Neither the actual submission and/or funding of this grant project were required for the completion of this project.
