by De La Torre, Annabelle, M.S.W., California State University, Long Beach, 2014, 66; 1527693
Abstract (Summary)

Caregiving is a process that is defined as a chronic stressor due to demanding responsibilities. There are negative reactions reported by caregivers caring for chronically ill older adults. Caregivers who do not seek services are at risk for physical, psychological, and emotional decline. The purpose of this study was to write a grant for a home-based education and therapeutic support program for family caregivers in the Los Angeles area. The overall goal of the program is to prevent and reduce caregiving burnout. This grant program is designed to offer interventions that will permit caregivers to receive supportive services in the comfort of their own homes. If this home-based project is funded and implemented, it will provide AltaMed Health Services an opportunity to enhance their services that are available to family caregivers. The actual submission and/ or funding of the grant proposal was not a requirement for the successfully completion of the project.
